Re: 2017 GLS550 135k Service

I did see the possibility on FCP Euro that you can use the 236.17 (gold/yellow) in 236.15 applications which tells me they are equally thin. https://www.fcpeuro.com/blog/mercedes-benz-722.9-transmission-service-modifications On the 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmissions, we recommend running the latest versi...

Re: 2017 GLS550 135k Service

236.15: A89 update for the FE spec, thinner fluid. They didn't just change the fluid - they changed the pans, filters, possibly frictions (looking for proof though), and added the A89 coding to the datacard. We can see how much thinner it is. This would cover all 7-speed applications from 2010 or 2...

Re: 2017 GLS550 135k Service

That viscosity is WAY thinner for the FE fluid, and Maxlife magically claims they can handle both applications with a single fluid. I believe 236.17 has a similar viscosity to the 236.15 update. However, Mercedes (and the aftermarket fluids that target these specs) say you CANNOT interchange 236.14...

That's actually a local user setting. It is in the user control panel. This link MIGHT work for you: ucp.php?sid=b8c54c04de488d13fb67c5cbf0a1a2f1&i=372

I think we need to swap scantools again and you can add Jeep to the Launch tool.

Re: WK2 145k Service

I haven't racked Valvoline MaxLife vs. 236.17 yet, but at least in the Lifeguard 8 comparison I think my conclusion would've been that the viscosities are functionally equivalent. Perhaps except at -40 degC, but I don't know how much that's relevant. I compared 236.14 and 236.15. They have VERY dif...

Re: WK2 145k Service

For fluid if it were mine I'd probably buy this: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=10865748&cc=3298408&pt=11387&jsn=432 And since that can't be used in the GLS, that solves the "I will just stock one fluid" approach. But even this doesn't seem to be "approved.&qu...

2014 E63S transmission mount

I had just done this on my S550. It was easy and cheap and is, in fact, the same W221 part. I would say overall similar results. Old one seemed squished and there are some modest smoothness improvements. I was also curious if the driveline angle was causing some NVH from the driveshaft. I didn't get...
