Re: 07 S550: lost coolant and overheated?
The spring retainer rubbed against the metal hose sleeve enough for it to rust. The rust jacked the spring clip enough for the hose to pop out under pressure. Neat. 07 S550: lost coolant and overheated?
I was within range of my neighborhood when I saw a low coolant warning pop up in the speedo. I didn't think much of it because I had been driving a little aggressively and just took a corner pretty quickly so I figured maybe it just triggered the sensor. Kept driving a couple miles to my driveway. A...

Re: 2014 E63S: plugs and coils
Checking in before completion which may be bad luck. Removed driver's side coils and plugs. New plugs are installed and torqued. Funny thing about that bad luck. Turns out I did NOT install all driver's side plugs. I missed the third one back (without noticing, and while actively pointing out that ...

Re: 2014 E63S: plugs and coils
It does want dielectric grease on the boots so they don't weld themselves to the plugs. Mine pulled out pretty easily (I had to use hose pliers and pry against the fuel rail but nothing broke and the popped free). Relevant torques: plugs are 17 lb-ft (Bosch box says so, and WIS agrees, though I did ...

2014 E63S: plugs and coils
Checking in before completion which may be bad luck. Removed driver's side coils and plugs. New plugs are installed and torqued. They indexed about the same as the Mercedes branded plugs did, seemingly beyond the 45 degree spec. But I'm not going to sand down washers. It's not tuned, it'll be fine. ...

Re: 14 E63S: forged wheel search
20240526_145403.jpg It's more aggressive and interesting. The factory S model wheels are more reserved and classy I suppose. More specifically, from the side angle like this, I do prefer the forged wheel. However, from an oblique angle, the original 10 spoke looks, like I said before, a little high...

I added maybe 6 oz more but not sure it needed it. I was doing the truck so I had it in my hands....
