- Water from downspout in front of house flowed back toward the side of the house and into a crack in the foundation under the septic outlet pipe. This MIGHT be the biggest issue and I also fixed it. Had water in basement in Jan. Actually had to vacuum it out. I identified several possibilities and addressed them: - Some vent on the siding was letting in water and soaking the sheathing and sill plate.
