Maxima brake light
It was actually low on fluid. Well, the level was above the min, but I disconnected the low fluid switch and the light went out. I cleaned it thinking the harness was bad (but disconnecting turns the light off so a bad harness wouldn't turn on the brake light). Anyway, I added a bit of fluid and it ...

Maxima cooling saga
This one is funny because there were no noticeable external symptoms. But a deeper look proved otherwise. The temp was behaving oddly after I replaced the radiator and thermostat months ago. Main symptoms were temps that pretty much stayed above 200°F and a cold lower radiator hose. If I disconnecte...

Re: Maxima exhaust saga
Don't have time for a full post, but I installed the flex pipe. The OEM Y-pipe has quite thick walls. S7302405.JPG The flex pipe was quite shot. S7302404.JPG Fitting it up. I cut the cat side of the Y-pipe three times total. The engine side I just cut flush with the weld on the old flex pipe. S73024...

Re: Maxima exhaust saga
I measured the Y-pipe on the car using a ziptie. I wrapped the ziptie around the pipe, then marked with a sharpie where it started to overlap (circumference measurement). That came out to about 6-3/16. Divide by Pi and that comes out to about a 1.97" outer diameter. Which is why I ordered a 2&q...

Re: Maxima exhaust saga
New 2" flex pipe and band clamps. One thing I am concerned about is the Y-pipe is not perfectly round. It has a weird hump on part of the circumference. So I may have to use some heat in combination with my pipe expander and a BFH. This flex pipe has to slip over that pipe. WP_001044.jpg I also...

I made some changes to attachment settings. Now it creates a 400 pixel thumbnail and if you click it, it opens the full size which your browser will typically rescale. That works way better than what it was before. You will have to re-attach and edit the post to change any existing posts. See my lam...

Halogen to CFL conversion for torchiere
I could have posted this in Energy I suppose. I've had a torchiere halogen lamp since at least high school, and it moved to college, to my two apartments, and how it's been in my house for 6+ years. It originally accepted the 300W halogen bulbs, though I had switched to the 150W years ago since 300W...

MiniSIM to microSIM
This is kind of weak because I have no pics. But my mother-in-law wanted to upgrade from a phone taking a miniSIM to a phone taking a microSIM. Except I didn't realize the phone I recommended took a microSIM until we got home and I tried to put her SIM in it. There are directions all over the place ...
