Re: The SAAB Gets a Transmission

There's a big problem with the SnapOn socket I bought though... IMG_20200116_222921552~2.jpg Fortunately, my local machine shop (R&R in Warwick) was willing and able to take this 42 mm socket down to around 30 mm so it would fit into the wheel. Well worth the thirty bucks (half an hour labor). P...

The SAAB Gets a Transmission

I loaded up the Astra and the SAAB for a family summer trip this year. We each got a dog and a kid. It's perfect. The ~ 100 mile trip leads through Hartford then we have to hammer over Avon mountain. I gave the SAAB a final squirt of boost to crest Avon Mountain and it popped out of 4th gear. I gent...

Re: 05 STS fuel pump noise

Yeah, that occurred to me as well.. why waste precious battery juice at with the engine off if there is enough fuel available to start without doing that?

Adam has a probe kit.. can things like this still be run by just applying 12 volts? or do you have to also give it can-bus commands to run?

All a matter of each person's car maintenance philosophy.

Not like I'm judging... I recently replaced only my #7 spark plug.

Re: Mazda3 Motor Mounts

It might even help to relieve any binding if you can just loosen the top motor mount with the car level and then retighten to "spec". I tried this on the Saturn before just dealing with it.. didn't help a whole lot. I couldn't expect too much with a 250k econobox and an i4 that probably ha...

Re: 05 STS fuel pump noise

Can you command the transfer pump separately? Intermittent pump, intermittent sound perhaps?

I could even imagine a situation where the level senders get jostled by a driver entering the car and command a transfer.

Re: SRX cold start misfire

There must be a tipping point when you've replaced 5 of the 8 coils.. Funny how one side seems to have aged faster. More heat on that side for some reason?

The curse and blessing of the Saab di cassette is that your only option is to replace all four coils at once.
