That was a fail.

Followed directions here:
https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3 ... /upgrade3/

Got through step 11. Step 12.1 resulted in HTTP 500. I tried a whole bunch of things. I played with the PHP version. Upgraded to 7.2. Played with file/folder permissions. Nothing worked. Tried a DreamHost chat session. They tried some stuff and that didn't help. Next step is to submit a ticket and get someone to deep dive it for me.

The thing is, step 12.1 will actually upgrade the DB so it is theoretically the point of no return. Well, I mean, I could restore a DB backup and stuff...

Anyway, they reverted me to PHP 5.6 for now. The thing is, this might actually work on 7.2. The whole point is I thought it was not compatible. So maybe I will actually push it back to 7.2 and just upgrade the forum at another time. Or maybe I'll try again on 5.6 and see what a DreamHost ticket can do for me.

I tried again this time doing no CHMOD stuff. Worked.

We are now on 3.2.8. Awesome.

Single most awesome feature I found within 10 seconds: attachment uploader. You can drag and drop, or upload multiple files from the file dialog. OMG.

Now I need to switch to php 7.2 I guess.

And we're on 7.2 with fastCGI, whatever that is.

Next awesome feature: dynamic scaling finally works great on phone browsers. I don't know if this is technically considered responsive design but this is sweet.

Out of date again.

It was actually out of date before 3.3...

Also need to install this unless 3.3 happens to come with something that does this.

But I got an HTTP 500 when posting this. And it looked like it wasn't going to work.

Ok the redirect after posting gives the error.
