07 S550 rear sub rattle?

Sometimes repairing the stock system is ill-advised but you can do it

Nice DIY fix actually. If that's my issue.

Good news. The rear speaker grill was easy to remove. Just pry gently from the front edge and go along the whole width (it's one piece the width of the rear shelf).

Other good news: My spider is separating from the cage in the same place as shown in the thread.

Just going to wait for the car to warm in the sun a bit so I am not trying to glue cold materials. It will also be a little tricky to let it dry to a tack before letting the spider contact the cage. I may have to apply and then hold it down a bit for a few minutes and hope it springs back to seat with the cage. I might want to goober on a little more around the cage to spider interface to give it a little extra support. The spider doesn't do anything for sound but it's part of the suspension system so it does have a structural function.

Slathered some rubber cement on there.

It's not that warm out so I might want to give it a day to dry before I test. But this could be fixed which would be tremendous. Then I can properly evaluate the audio. Actually I need to get my aux in solution. Still investigating that.

Been cranking the audio and this does seem fixed. I am pretty satisfied with this system and that's a relief. Now I can dispose of the STS (eventually).
