Bill, please explain to me why this is an insufficient response to the Mustang GT.

Considering the extra horsepower, torque, and 0-60 times over the GT, I'm surprised it gets better highway mpg too. The Silverado V8 gets better than Ford's V8 in the F150 as well. Though I've been a Mustang guy since 1966, I'm anxious to test drive this one. I tested last generation 2SS, but liked the Mustang better.
Those pushrods keep delivering. I love when some calls them dated tech, yet they are lighter, smaller, more powerfull, and get better gas mileage. Doesn't sound dated to me...

I just don't understand why Ford couldn't beat this Camaro. The Camaro SS will NEVER have more hp than the Corvette as long as they are using the same engine. GM wouldn't do that. Well, the Vette came out in 2014 with 455 hp, basically showcasing what the probable output of the 2016 Camaro SS would be. All Ford had to do was beef up their 5.0 engine and all for 2015 to outdo the 2014 Vette's output, but instead they barely touched it. Now GM has updated the Camaro SS extensively and lost a good bit of weight. This should have been an easy win for Ford since GM pretty much laid out all their cards, but Ford continually overlooks that aspect. And because of that, GM just dropped the gauntlet and took the crown by far.

The Mustang was always slightly faster in a straight line while the Camaro had the handling, but now the Camaro has both. I think we might see an emergency refresh for the Mustang's 5.0 engine and suspension. The only advantage to the Mustang GT now is the price. But most people who bought these cars loaded on a good amount of options, and GM made many of those standard for 2016.

405 hp to the wheels. Pretty decent.

350 lb-ft (at the wheels, mind you) from 2,000 rpm and it doesn't drop below 350 until 6,000 rpm.

For $47,480 it better be good. that is $2500 less than the GT350. I don't know many people that like Camaros that also have 50K for a car. Sure it is a great car but it is almost demanding Corvette money. This is supposed to be the poor man's sports car. I know this has options but WTF! 50K after delivery! How much will the ZL1/IROC/Z-28 be? 75K? When is GM going to make an affordable V8 sports/muscle car again? - Never.

I think he is angry because you can get a base (V8) Mustang for ~$34K (less taxes and other 'fee' BS). Yes it is slower, doesn't handle as well as the Camaro, is less well equipped, and gets worse fuel economy. But it costs less money, which makes it more "affordable".

One could argue that the "affordable V8 sports/muscle car" is a ~5 year old version of any new "non-affordable" sports/muscle car.

$47K is not the "entry price" for a 2016 SS. They describe it as a "loaded" test car. Chevrolet.com does not list MSRPs yet for the 2016, however. A 2015 2SS starts at $38,300 while the 1SS starts at $34,500. That 1SS price is real close to the Mustang GT starting price.

If you want Chevrolet (or any manufacturer) to make different cars (or offer different configurations at different prices), contact the manufacturer and tell them that. You can also do that through the dealer. Dealer sales teams have a communications channel to the manufacturer to voice concerns/suggestions. If there is enough interest, the manufacturer will respond. Remember, dealers are the only way manufacturers in the US can sell cars (except for Tesla) so the manufacturers try to give the dealers what they say their customers want.

What Adam said.

Also:
Just have to note that this is just a hair slower than the $80k M4 C&D tested a while back: 12.3@116 vs 12.0@119...nearly as good on the skidpad: .98 vs 1.00, and even has faster braking: 147 feet vs 150. I know it's a different segment but I also remember enjoying reading the Acura Integra Type R vs. Mustang GT article back in the 90's too.

Haha
So this is why Ford priced the GT350 from just $50K!
Also this goodness will be in every single version of the Camaro, with every engine, which is a failure of the Mustang.
