Adam and I looked up some stuff over lunch. Even though blue book suggests this car may only be worth $6,500, a quick perusal on Auto Trader suggests they typically go for closer to $10k, confirming that $900 for this car is actually a really good deal assuming the major issue is just that it needs an engine.

Plus it looks better than the solstice, even if it is beige. Wonder if anyone posted swap performance numbers.

LS2, 404 rwhp. Sky Redline was a little under 3,100 lbs. Call it maybe 3,200, and possibly lighter still. Cool, fun car. As a practical matter, a C5 Z06 is just as light, maybe a bit lighter, and can certainly be modded to 400 rwhp and it will cost you far less than $25k to do it (including the car). So that may hold back the value of a car like this.

But for $900, seems like you could put together a poor man's C5 Z06 that obviously also has some appeal/uniqueness. Plus I'm sure Bill would say he vastly prefers the styling on the Sky.

I like the styling better, and it seems smaller. It would be interesting to know the weight differences and actual numbers of a swapped Sky. Definitely a cool project.

It's smaller but not lighter. And I would have a hard time believing it is better handling...just saying.

Aside from the shorty headers, I wouldn't be surprised if that made 400 rwhp. Probably leaves pretty hard with the gears, converter and tires. Should run a 12.x.

Looking closer, the weak link on this car is the trans. It appears to be a stock trans with a tune only. It needs a shift kit like yesterday. Or a T56. Or 4L80E. Because if it doesn't get any of those things, it'll at least need another 4L60E...

Also this thing is probably very loud. I'd ditch the wheels and probably bring up the ride height...but I do like this overall.
