Apparently these were the most A/V-oriented computers you could buy in 1988, and very cheap, too. I imagine the video game experience of Commodore was a very large factor. I never got to even see one of these.
Lots of interesting, very early stuff here, like digital image editing and even some primitive video editing. Oh yeah, and multitasking (not demonstrated).
By the way, the famous and highly capable Video Toaster was also an accessory originally released for Amiga computers (1990). Now I really want to play with one.
In the early days of computers, hardware/software compatibility was king, which is why these fell out of favor. X86 was the future and so was Windows for desktops.
1988: The new Amigas

What a coincidence. They interview Tim Jenison, the NewTek company founder! They have what I assume is a pre-production Video Toaster for demo.

Software review. Templates and how-to spreadsheets for MS Excel. Like many MS Office suite programs (or at least PowerPoint), MS released it for the Macintosh first. Mind = blown?

That are back to it now. Touch Office hit the iOS/Android devices before modern Window (winrt). Its probably just a reflection of the market (then and now).
