Re: 2001 Duramax LB7 Knocking

I did look at Area Diesel's website - they're pretty high for stand-alone injector pricing. I didn't see this kit earlier: https://shop.areadieselservice.com/Category/12-3001/Magnum-Fuel-Injector-Pro-Package-for-2001-2004-Duramax-LB7-(VIN-1) Their magnum line doesn't seem to indicate using Bosch par...

Re: 2001 Duramax LB7 Knocking

I believe fully ECM managed - I think it's just a mass-volume high pressure pump that just keeps the manifold at full injection pressure and the ECM signals each injector. If I recall correctly the injector driver hardware is a pretty big ECM-looking box. This is the first time I'll have done anythi...

WK2 145k Service

Figured I'd keep the trend going. New-to-me WK2, initial service (dealer changed oil at Jiffy Lube - 5k interval recommends servicing again at 148k) - I'll just do it sooner-ish. To do: Engine oil and filter Troubleshoot leaks Cabin Filter Engine Air Filter Plugs Transmission Fluid Xfer case fluid R...

2001 Duramax LB7 Knocking

Both in fall trips up to VT and my recent run to PA to pickup a Jeep, I've noticed the 2001 GMC K2500 HD LB7 Duramax sounding like it has a bad exhaust manifold leak under heavy load. Anecdotes, internet reading, and discussion with a local mechanic tells me that it is most likely injector knock. It...

Re: 2017 GLS550 135k Service

I forgot about the passenger rear airbag that may be original. I could just run it until it has some sort of symptom. And/or I could do a soap spray test to see if it's weeping yet. Re: 2017 GLS550 135k Service

Ordered trans pan/ 4x wiring harnesses from MB Warwick - shipping was $70, so hopefully either you can snag these or I'll drive out there sometime. Order 4802 placed 4/25/24 Based on ECS Tuning's "kit', I also ordered the oil pipe and guide tube they included. Order 4803 placed 4/25/24. Ordered...

Re: 1993 JCB 217S Turbo

Cool - I had rebuilt the one on my 2008 Audi A4 B7 2.0 TFSI previously. The only major screwup I made on that one was that I didn't know the shaft was left hand thread and I managed to elongate a section of threads before realizing it. Went back together ok and about 6k miles later no issues. This J...

Re: 2017 GLS550 135k Service

At least on the Ram/Jeep 8 and 9 Speed ZF transmission it seems there are many 300k-500k examples of Maxlife users, so its at least good in those applications. Not sure on the Benz front. My suspicion is that clean/good universal oil is far better than used-up OEM stuff to a point, especially if at ...

Re: 2017 GLS550 135k Service

Looks like transmission fluid is 236.17 per a link posted in the GL/GLS test drive thread. Valvoline claims compliance. https://sharena21.springcm.com/Public/Document/18452/9e447451-fe75-e711-9c10-ac162d889bd3/5ca3517a-e29c-e711-9c10-ac162d889bd3 Since it looks like Valvoline MaxLife universal meets...

Agreed to purchase the PA one on Friday 4/19/24 for $12,990 all-in w/ dealer fee and 60 day temp registration at $13,345.47.

They took a $500 credit card deposit, balance due at pickup.

Haven't seen it yet - planning on getting it Friday 4/26/24.
