Re: Install ductless mini-split
Received the freight delivery yesterday while I was on my walk. 20240329_122938.jpg I finished up work and decided to just start the replacement because, why not? 20240329_151859.jpg First I took a static pressure reading with the old condenser which I was going to use to ask Mr Cool about the refri...

And another. Switched to Pennzoil Platinum Euro 0W-40. It actually smells cleaner than any other oil. Something something natural gas.
101,182 miles.
Also did the coolant tank, transmission mount, brake flush. Broke a lug bolt but saved it.

116.1 gal @ $3.09. Exeter fuel is $3.45 at this qty and even at 500+ is still $3.23.

Re: Mercedes GL/GLS test drives
Yes I think it's the pan and the assorted stuff but the filters are integral. https://www.mercedesbenzpartsshop.com/oem-parts/mercedes-benz-trans-pan-7252703707 You could call the dealer and ask if that pan includes the gasket, bolts, overflow tube, whatever. I don't know that I understand what ever...

Re: W221 S550 hunt
I know this will get buried but I am documenting it here nonetheless. I recently found out that late production M278s have cast iron cylinder liners. It's not clear exactly what this achieves but the lore is they are less prone to scoring and generally more reliable. The general question is: is a la...

Re: W221 S550 hunt
Rolling right up on next 5k oil change interval. I have been mulling over what PM I want to do in addition to the oil change. It is also due for a brake fluid flush. So here is the list: - Oil change. I seem to be out of M1 0W-40 so I will switch to something else. Probably either Castrol Edge 0W-40...

Re: Mercedes GL/GLS test drives
Finally decided to look into the cylinder liner fiasco. There is an active thread on this here: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w212/881769-m278-silitec-cylinders-mid-cycle-switch-cast-iron-cylinders.html And right at the top (and can be verified with the PDF attachment), the engine breakpoint fo...

Re: Mercedes GL/GLS test drives
Yeah I agree it can't really be less integrated than stock. It might be a bit of a task to pull together the rest of the towing package though. Hopefully my list is accurate: https://forums.kevinallenmoore.com/viewtopic.php?p=23432#p23432 I guess I'm also wondering if a Curt hitch can really take th...
