07 S550: brake flush
Guess I don't have a thread for this. This is the second flush that was due (B service, every 20k, 2 years). I used my new pneumatic extractor. It wasn't sucking much out so I just intuitively pumped the brake pedal. The extractor on the bleeder kept all fluid from dripping past the bleeder. Pretty ...

Re: W221 S550 hunt
Broke a lug bolt removing the right rear wheel. Looks like it may have been broken for a while based on the rust pattern. Was able to drill and extract the rest without too much fanfare. Only took like 10 minutes, happily. Good drill bits FTW. Oh, dealer retail on a lug bolt is $12. It seems like st...

Re: 07 S550: Transmission service
Decided to preventatively replace the tranny mount because it's easy. 20240330_104152.jpg 20240330_104210.jpg 20240330_104454.jpg 20240330_104458.jpg 20240330_104501.jpg Didn't get to drive it much but may be a bit smoother. Not a dramatic difference though. I'll get to drive it an hour tomorrow so ...

Re: 07 S550: change coolant w/ vacuum fill tool
Preventatively replaced the coolant pressure tank. Easy job. For some reason the new one didn't come with a cap so I had to buy one at dealer retail. The cap is a wear item. Yes I could have used my old cap until I ordered a new one from a cheaper source. But I wanted to complete the task. 20240330_...

Re: Install ductless mini-split
Received the freight delivery yesterday while I was on my walk. 20240329_122938.jpg I finished up work and decided to just start the replacement because, why not? 20240329_151859.jpg First I took a static pressure reading with the old condenser which I was going to use to ask Mr Cool about the refri...

Re: 07 S550: oil change
And another. Switched to Pennzoil Platinum Euro 0W-40. It actually smells cleaner than any other oil. Something something natural gas.
101,182 miles.
Also did the coolant tank, transmission mount, brake flush. Broke a lug bolt but saved it.

Re: Oil use
116.1 gal @ $3.09. Exeter fuel is $3.45 at this qty and even at 500+ is still $3.23.
