Craigslist Suburbans

Post by kevm14 »

For Ed. Or for my entertainment. Or both.

Actually, this particular one may fall more into the "For Bill" category.

1992 Suburban 2500 3/4 Ton with Big Block 454 and Plow - $2500 (TAUNTON)

cylinders: 8 cylinders
drive: 4wd
fuel: gas
odometer: 180
size: full-size
title status: clean
transmission: automatic
type: SUV
Very rare Suburban 2500 with Big Block 454. Lots of power and will tow a house down. Runs good and drives smooth. Comes with a plow which has only been used to plow personal driveway. Adult owned and never beat. Has rear barn door's and typical rockers that need attention. Plows great. Tires are about 80% and brakes were recently done. Power windows, locks, power steering, has a/c but needs to be charged or worked on. Mileage is in the 180's but you'd never know it. Great everyday driver. $2500 FIRM.

454, so TBI. Around 230 hp. Should actually have a 4L80E. A very early one.

This is what I am talking about.

Suburban Ls - $1600 (North dighton)

2003 Chevrolet Suburban

Perfect running non rusty truck. Don't miss out. 2003 Chevy Suburban Ls. Body 280k. Drivetrain with receipts was replaced at 260k with a motor and transmission with 134k. It's runs and drives perfect. Motor is quiet. It has the 5.3 v8. Transmission shifts perfect. 4 wheel drive works perfectly. Power windows and locks. Bose stereo. Tow package. Keyless entry. Cold ac. Hot heat. No major rust or rot. Rockers are solid and the quarters. Frame is clean. Brakes and suspension are good. No check engine light. Does have a abs light on. Ready to drive. Lots of life left. Needs a cleaning. Has a dent in drivers door. That can easily be pushed out. Overall a solid truck. Mechanic gave it a green light. 1600 firm. No offers or trades. Solid daily family transportation. Text if interested
I thought LS was a low trim level but it has Bose, auto headlights, auto 4WD, foglights and stuff like that. ABS light...Harbor Freight now conveniently sells scantools that can talk ABS so diagnosing these systems is less difficult for the DIY than it used to be.

I actually really like this and it could be a good buy. I was thinking about this. I know that I insist on having a cap on my pickup trucks...if I never need to remove the cap, could I not just have a Suburban? It's not the same thing of course. I have to remove seats to have more space, and I have zero option of removing the cap and hauling something tall. And depending on the load, I may not want to be in the same space as the cargo but at least I could legit use this as a backup family hauler. Plus 4WD is something.

I would prefer leather and heated seats but at these miles, you don't want GM truck leather...at least not the driver's seat.

Anyway, this is pretty much an ideal low budget candidate for the DIY type. Seems clean, and the engine/trans replacement should mean no powertrain worries.

I feel like I've seen this vehicle before, so maybe someone used that Mass law to return it because it didn't pass inspection or whatever.

It seems so easy to get into one of these for cheap.

That's a lot of pine tree air fresheners.

Also, any time I see reclined seats I get a little nervous - the reclined seat set isn't known for fastidious maintenance.

I must say these are a lot of vehicle for the money. I suppose one of these and a utility trailer would pretty much do whatever you were counting on a truck to do, and could be used to haul the family.

Yeah I think that's why Ed wants one.

Fortunately the Ram is a real enough vehicle that I could daily that to keep winter off of both the CTS-V and a clean B-body if I end up with one. That was something the Ranger wasn't really going to provide. I don't mean from a reliability standpoint...it's just more of an around town type of vehicle. Even though I have done plenty of highway trips (even while towing) with it. I just don't like small, underpowered vehicles with like crank windows and stuff.

I'm sure this is out of the price range, but a nice condition GMT-900 for under $10k isn't bad: http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/5983240035.html

For bigger bucks I'd try to reach for something with an LQ9 or L92. Which I think means it has to be a Yukon XL.

That is a handsome vehicle though.
