I never understood those strange dollar values. I usually associate them with a scam but this is a hell of a vehicle to do a scam with...also crank windows!! That is crazy.

Also these photos were either taken with a very old digital camera, or film and scanned to digital - the exposure and contrast curve is a dead ringer, plus the obvious xenon flash for some shots. EXIF data stripped but 800x612 is the resolution. Either way, I guess that checks out with this particular specimen....

Radwood is a car show dedicated to cars from the 80s and 90s. It spans everything from the super mundane to exotics.

I think the strange dollar values sometimes come from people looking up KBB values.

I guess it is perfect. 1982-1996. Who would have thought there would have been an OBD-II A-body. Hilarious.

It is hard to think of an interesting A-body but I think the obvious award goes to the 1988-1989 Pontiac 6000 STE AWD.

Actually, apparently the 6000 STE in general.
By 1984, Pontiac was in the midst of a resurgence as the division began to reassert its 1960s role as GM's performance brand. The 6000STE (Special Touring Edition) was introduced for the 1983 model year. 5-passenger seating with front captain seats and power windows were standard on this trim level (optional on some other trim levels). It featured a High-Output version of the 6000's optional 2.8 L V6. Like that engine, it sported a 2-barrel carburetor, though it delivered 135 hp (101 kW), rather than the usual 112 horsepower. Although intended to compete with similar entries from BMW and Audi, the 6000 used older technologies by comparison. The fuel system was carbureted (competitors had fuel injection) and gauge cluster lacked a tachometer. The 1984 6000STE featured a digital gauge cluster featuring a bar-graph tachometer. The STE featured a driver information center with a system which monitored functions such as lights, doors, tune-ups and tire rotations. For 1984, Road & Track called the 6000 STE one of the top twelve enthusiast cars.

Special steering rack, and suspension tuning with a self-leveling rear air suspension yielded handling performance comparable to European vehicles. Four wheel disc brakes improved stopping as did standard Goodyear Eagle GT tires, size 195/70R14 (large for the time).

In 1985, the carbureted engine was replaced by a multi-port fuel injected version of the 2.8 L V6, still delivering 135 hp (101 kW). Although the 3-speed automatic remained standard (a Getrag 5-speed manual was a no charge option), the new engine accelerated faster than the previous engine.

For 1986, a revised front fascia with composite headlamps, anti-lock brakes, a revised tachometer, steering wheel mounted audio controls (the first of their kind) and a new 4-speed automatic transmission became available. Following this was a two-position memory seat for the 8-way power drivers seat for 1987.

New for 1988 was an optional All Wheel Drive system. It was mated to a new 3.1 L LH0 V6 (the first use of GM's then-new 3.1 L in a production car) but only a 3-speed automatic transmission, which did not help acceleration or fuel economy. The all-wheel-drive system became standard for 1989, but was moved to the SE model for 1990, since the STE model name was discontinued from the 6000 line and moved to the new four-door Grand Prix lineup that year. The STE trim level was later discontinued from the Grand Prix after 1993.

An honorable mention goes to the Century equipped with a Buick 3.8L with sequential multiport FI (probably inherited from the 3.8 turbo), from 86-88. This would have been the powertrain to get honestly. Probably drove pretty well, especially for the time period. These were not heavy cars.
1986–1988
150 hp (112 kW)
200 lb⋅ft (271 N⋅m)
SFI
With Buick's 181 cu in (3.0 L) V6 producing 110 hp (82 kW), the Century T-Type's performance was modest, but the 3.8 SFI engine, producing 140–150 hp (104–112 kW), offered spirited performance in this comparatively lightweight vehicle.

The 3300 was introduced in 1989 as a lower-powered alternative to the 3800 cc power plant. The smaller engine featured multiport fuel injection, waste spark distributor-less ignition controlled by the ECM after startup, but had no balance shaft. An interior refresh came in 1989 for 1990 models.[11]
That 3.3L was also a good engine. They put that in some Cieras. Notably, they made a Ciera with FE3 with that engine (another honorable mention). I drove one once back in college with over 200k. I thought it was pretty good (needed a tuneup…). It was a fairly rough engine with no balance shaft, as noted above. Perhaps as a result it made 160hp. From 89-93 that was perfectly competitive output, just not the refinement...

Hey, these were crappy times. Fortunately the A-body at least got some halfway decent hardware by the end of the 80s into the 90s. For what it was...

International Series From 1988 to 1990, the International Series was the top performance trim available on the Ciera. It featured the 3.8 liter V6 for 1988 and the 3.3 liter V6 for 1989 and 1990. Available on coupe and sedan models, it featured a factory body kit, bucket seats with console, FE3 performance suspension, alloy wheels, full instrumentation, air conditioning and unique ornamentation.[3]
Maybe this is the pinnacle. I mean this would have been better than a Taurus in many ways (not the SHO obviously).

Sure but the only problem is the only thing that car is good for is being a winter beater up north. Not worth the trip for a $1300 car. Unless you're an enthusiast I guess.
