I don't think there's ever really a downside to adding argon. Only "unnecessary expense."

Yeah, he even says "that's all ya need" not "argon will make things worse.". The Airgas guy was interested in me trying the old CO2 tank I had. He said co2 is the original shielding gas.

All that said, I'll take any advantage I can get in learning to weld, and challenge myself later.
