Power out? How about an inverter connected to your car?

Oil/gas and on again at 12:45pm...

Probably waiting on this being fixed.

5pm gas and oil.

The plywood roof I use seems to make it run hotter. Not sure I like that. So I took it off and will have to run out if it begins to pour. Some sprinkling doesn't bother me. The whole thing is blowing hot air all over the place so I don't think a little water will do much.

EDIT: 3 mins later.....put it back. Sigh.

Shut down around 9:30pm.

Power came back around 5:35am.

The A leg used 13 kWh and the B leg used 26 kWh.

I went through my posts and estimate about 22.4 hours of run time. If I divide the total energy consumption into the run time I get an average power draw of 1.74 kW. This seems right for a 4000W generator except I was having to fairly aggressively manage loads. I would have gone with more simultaneous loads if each leg could do more than 2000W. I bet a 6000-7000W generator would be pretty good, giving me 3000-3500W per leg. That could put me over 2kW average draw since I'd just be using more things at the same time.

I also think this is a higher draw than winter because I was running two window A/C units basically the whole time. Plus two refrigerators. Lights. Occasional well pump and hot water heater. The water heater and well pump would strain it. Then if I wanted to use any kitchen appliance I had to shut off the 12k BTU downstairs window A/C. That would allow us to run either toaster or microwave. The Keurig actually ran fine on the A leg without shutting off the downstairs A/C.

After aggressively shutting basically everything off we were able to run a medium size induction burner at 1 notch from full and bring water to a boil to cook rice. Once I shed all the other loads this was no problem. With the other loads running, the burner on about 50% was about all I felt comfortable with.

So you can see how a bigger unit would make things easier.

For fuel consumption, I pegged the total usage around 13.5 gallons which would put it at 0.6 gallons/hr. Not terribly efficient.
