I think I'm going to get a high quality chain for this thing. It seems to bind as it cuts into larger trunks and I think that is because of the way the teeth are. I guess it tries to sort of curve as it cuts which just causes tremendous friction on the sides and bogs down the engine without much cutting. A new chain may cut nice and straight and possibly even hold me off on needing to buy a new saw.

This is definitely starting to make the case that this thing is too cheap for your needs.

Well I think I should get a new chain.

Not only did the coil fix the engine but I got a new chain and it cuts very nicely now. No curving.

I was shocked to see my exact model on the back, too.

It's time to rent a log splitter.

The saw was heavily curving to the right during cuts. Picked up an Echo bar and two more of those chains. Turns out the bar doesn't quite fit but I installed the new chain on my old bar and it cuts straight again. Not sure what happened as the old chain is still sharp. Maybe it needs to be sharpened, or maybe every other tooth (that faces the same direction) is dull due to hitting a rock or something.
