Caprice exhaust tick

Post by kevm14 »

Been years since I've heard a manifold tick out of this car. And now I've been hearing it a few minutes during warm up and even after restarting the car after going into a store. So I tightened the rear most bolt on the driver's side manifold. Fixed.

Longer version:
When I did the LT1 manifolds back in 2005, I had to modify the driver's side manifold because that rear most bolt hole does not have a corresponding hole on my L05 head. I actually had to mill into the manifold collector a bit and drill a new hole. For a fastener I used an allen head cap screw. It used to back off and cause a leak and then it seemingly stopped doing that and lasted years and years. It's tight enough again (could have worked at it more but access sucks under the steering shaft) so we'll see how long this lasts.

Simple cars FTW! Just rolled 288k.
