Kohler Kitchen Faucet Repair

Post by Adam »

It leaks. If you wiggle the main body up and down, it usually stops. Since this is a rental, I would normally make the property manager take care of this, but this was real easy and I didn't have to stay home from work or give up some other portion of some day.

It is a standard Kohler cartridge-style faucet. It leaked before we added the Britta attachment.

They even make their own repair kit for it.

Two o-rings and two bearings and some grease. It was around $8 on Amazon.

First step is to turn off the water. It is hilarious if you don't, however.

Second step is to pop off the plastic cover over the adjustment screw.

You can then insert an 1/8" allen wrench and remove the handle.

The top part unscrews. I was able to do it by hand.

You can then pull the main body off. Comes straight up. If I needed to replace the cartridge, I would have removed that large nut. It works fine, though.

Remove the old o-rings and bearings. Now is a good time to clean everything. Before you install the new o-rings and seals, add silicone to the groves. Once the new o-rings and bearings are installed, you can then cover the outside of them with silicone too. Kind of messy.

Re-installation is reverse of removal.
