Here are some shots of (some of) the rust issues the Caprice has behind the rear axle.
Left rear, behind gas tank.
With flash for extra barnacles.
Same side, a little forward of the last pic. Looking outward and up (gas tank can be seen at the top). This is a hole, no bones about it.
Same shot but from the opposite side (looking inward and up). Black plastic thing is the gas tank.
Still driver's side. The location is evident from the picture (spring, wheel/tire).
Rear of the gas tank, body. This is the passenger side rear gas tank strap that you see.
Right side, very rear of the frame. Another hole.
Left side again, rear.
Right side. More gaping hole.
Looking at the rear of the car (rear bumper support area).
I need to confirm but I believe the rest of the frame isn't anywhere near this bad. Parts of the body are getting bad, like the rear 1/4 and in front of the rear wheels, bottom of B-pillar area and a few other select places. Under the body isn't that bad, but I will look at more areas in future pics.
Kids, don't park your car on dirt or grass.

Re: Rust on Caprice
Kids, don't drive your car in New England in the Winter. Seriously, your whole car was parked on the same dirt and rusted worse in the back. I don't think dirt is discriminatory. The whole car would be the same if it was just from that. Not that it is good, it is just that the salt in the winter is way worse. Plus, driving the car should dry it from moisture from the ground, and the car is parked at work or driving half the day. I could see if you let it sit for years, and it never dried.
Re: Rust on Caprice
I think the really bad stuff here occurred from my previous residence. I parked it on the grass for a few winters when I had the Fleetwood (and then the Maxima). It also sat a lot when I blew up the differential while I was waiting to put the Truetrac in. There's a lot more than just that, and it all added up.
Re: Rust on Caprice
These pics make a pretty compelling argument not to attach the class II hitch that I have in a box somewhere.
