General STS thread
Re: General STS thread
Oh, the 6L50 in the SRX was made in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Re: General STS thread
There is at least one good reason the transmission in the SRX and my STS feel totally different: Because they are totally different.

6L50 is based on the new 6L80/90 architecture.
It does not have a drain plug. It also has two fill plugs. One on the pan itself and one on the case which faces up, like a vestigial dipstick boss.

So you change the fluid by flipping the car on its roof?kevm14 wrote: It does not have a drain plug. It also has two fill plugs. One on the pan itself and one on the case which faces up, like a vestigial dipstick boss.

Yeah like a lawn mower.
Re: General STS thread
20.8. I seem to have overcome the wall at 20.5 by employing the neutral technique appropriately. I also added a technique. Unlike the SRX, this calibration doesn't go into the absolute highest gear possible and lock up the torque converter. This is nice for drivability but not fuel economy. So what I've started doing is going into manual mode and forcing 5th gear at times where I know it will either not be ready for 5th (like 40mph) or when there are some hills and the calibration would downshift to 4th even though it could pull 5th.
Re: General STS thread
How is this still going on...
Re: General STS thread
I was just thinking the same thing. Hypermiling is frustrating enough as it is, but I think it's even worse to do in a car that actually has decent power.billgiacheri wrote:How is this still going on...
Re: General STS thread
Ironically, the tank is still going so the test continues. But the longer I do this, the longer the tank lasts.....
Re: General STS thread
Don't ask me why I have a siphon tomorrow.
