Worst review of all time. This car is awesome. This review, not awesome. A couple interesting things halfway through about how the manual wasn't strong enough for the 350, so it got the auto. I may need to cross check that... I know the IROCs were 350, and auto from the factory.

Oh yeah, I saw that. Forgot to post. Yeah the review was not good.

You could get an IROC (or a Z28 in years they were both offered) with a 350 or a 305. If you wanted a manual, you got a 305.
The L98 in the Camaro was rated between 225-245hp depending on the year. The Corvette's were rated slightly more depending on year and axle ratio. The TPI 305 engine was not garbage, nor was it the worst engine ever made. Neither was the L69 305 (who's short block was used for the LB9 TPI engine). He's probably thinking of the LG4 or earlier carburated engines. There's really nothing wrong with those either, other than the low power output. People will tell you anecdotal stories about how they had EGR passage clogging issues on old 305s, what they neglect to tell you is how they never changed the oil or did any other maintenance.
He never talked about how stiff the springs are. They're really stiff.
He also didn't talk about the twisting unibody issues or the leaky t-tops. Or the t-top bag. Or how the shifter comes apart.
