Harbor Freight sockets, hose reel, drill bits, shrink tubing

Post by kevm14 »

Yeah dropped over $200 at HF....here is what I got.

Hose reel with 50 feet of 3/8" hose. I have always wanted this. Early birthday present to myself I suppose. They had a coupon in the flyer for $60 which is pretty damn cheap if you ask me. Impulse buy but worth it. Normally $80. Need to figure out where to hang/mount it.

29 Ti drill bits, 1/16" to 1/2" in 64ths! I have good bits but broke one recently so this will be a good backup set for...$10! Yeah. Normally $18.

Sweet seemingly high grade shrink tubing. Shrinks to 1/3 its diameter which is fancy (the cheap PVC stuff is 1/2). $6. Very high ratings. It is stronger than the cheap PVC stuff also. And has an adhesive lining for marine applications which seems like it would be great on anything used outside in general. Can't wait to try this stuff.

In a related category I got some spray on electrical tape. Always wanted some of this. There are times when this may be really handy, mainly when tape can't be used due to restricted access. $7. It may actually be made by Plastidip.

In fact, it is made by them: https://plastidip.com/our-products/liquid-tape/

And it's $17 on Amazon!!

Now here's the true impulse buy. Did not find out my 20% off coupon would not work on it until cash register but took a chance. It seems to be a high end one all things considered. $100, which at HF, means it must be fancy (appears to be on sale from $110 at this time). Thankfully I just noticed the ratings are pretty decent. And also key, this one does DC current inductively. The cheaper ones do not (in any brand). In any event, it is fancy enough that they make you take a tag to buy it. There was only an empty box hanging on the shelf.

A Fluke with the same specs is $432. I realize what I bought is not Fluke but still.

And what I originally came for but there were out of stock of, the 8 piece SAE 3/4" drive impact sockets. I need the 1-5/16" for the flywheel nut on my Deutz. And I had a 20% coupon which would have really made that set a steal.

If they had those sockets I would have needed these adapters to be able to run the 3/4" drive from my 1/2" impact.

Fortunately I am pretty satisfied with the rest of what I bought that I'll give them a pass this time. I do still need those sockets though...

That is legit, at least by spec. Most of that stuff is notable and good. I am really happy to have something like this finally.

Truly does compare to meters 3 times its price
I travel all over the country as an electrical expert and service on CMP 5 and CMP 17 for the National Electrical Code. I have put this meter through it's paces and I can without a doubt tell you it is top notch and has all the features of the higher end models. In fact, I have removed my Fluke and now carry this model with me on all of my training events. I also still own an electrical contracting business and this is now the Go-To meter for me.
I'm just amazed my instinct was that it was good. I guess I knew for $100 and being a meter like this, it had to be pretty good at HF because they have plenty of stuff similar to this on the shelf that ranges from $14 to $90 so this is literally the single best one they sell.

Manual attached.

Ordered the sockets and adapters online using a 25% coupon (today only). Savings was greater than the $7 shipping.

Looks like that meter is a rebadged Mastech MS2125A.
