I wish GM had the balls to make this to destroy the Hellcat.

I don't think they need to "beat" the Hellcat. Producing a more well rounded car for a similar price is "beating" it, imo, though the internet may disagree. I think the speed is overrated. Not that 125mph trap isn't cool, but people have been taking junkyard LQ4s, doing cams and turbos and easily trapping 125. I understand the difference between driving it off the showroom floor and doing all the work, but 125, while very fast, isn't other worldly at this point. At least as far as the conversation about what you can do to a junkyard LSx and still daily drive it. If the fastest daily drivable LSx trapped in the 120 range, I'd say, yeah, factory 125 from a big-ass car is pretty cool. But that's not the case at all. It's actually very accessible.

I don't disagree with any of that.

I am just saying, as an engineer/car enthusiast, I look at it like this:

It is totally doable, and shouldn't cost much for the factory to add it since it is old technology, and it is awesome, so why not do it?

At this point, GM has a limited number of engines, why not sell turbo versions? It can't cost much to add a couple turbos and pipe to an already 60K car so why not.

To sum up, I am basically saying, it isn't a situation of "they need to", it is more like "why wouldn't they?"
They are already adding turbos to the economy/mid-sized cars for gas mileage, so why not add to the cool cars for wow factor?

GM doesn't have a lower budget engine in that horsepower category. To your point, I guess they should make that. Just to have the option.
