There is an inside handle that pulls the handle that's accessible when the front door is open. That handle has done nothing on the driver's side rear door since I got this truck. Finally pulled the door panel to inspect.
The cable end is broken so it can't pull. I tried manually and it works fine so it just needs a cable. Now to find a Chinesium one that actually works right.
Mopar number: 55275106
Dorman: 924-370
The Dorman is $50 on Rockauto. That's kinda pricey. Mopar is backordered. Mopar on eBay starts at $82 and goes up from there. Some very cheap ones on Amazon. I'll poke around.
Don't know that I should trust this and I'd still rather spend less: https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Chrysler ... 80&sr=8-19
Also getting some new plastic push pins. And need to melt some ziptie into an upper metal clip because it broke off the door panel. But these are just the melt kind so this will work.

Re: 99 Dodge Ram: rear door won't open from inside
Done.
I reattached the upper clip by melting some ziptie in and using the smooth end of a small carriage bolt as an iron. That's all that was done for initial manufacture.
I replaced all of the push pins as well for a nice, tight door panel fit. Getting the cable attached was a little fiddly as it required removing the main handle and fishing the cable through. Then it required some awkward angles to get it seated/mounted. I had to remove some of the inner door panel plastic to get in there and reattach the upper and lower latch rods. A very simple job all in all. If it happens to the passenger side, I will know what to do.
