So far a kernel downgrade to 6.8.0-110 is improved. It was improved enough to download 750MB of Mint updates. Seems to break with 111 and later. I tried up to the current 124 with the same issue. Realtek RTL8821 wifi.
Looks like the 111 kernel installed on 2-May.
To get back to 110 you have to hold down shift at boot and manually select it. Forcing it to stay on this kernel probably requires more terminal work. There is also 7.x which is available.

Re: "New" garage PC
Discovered a very old monitor sitting around in my new office at work. It is super bulky and I believe from 2006. It is an HP 2335 flat panel. 23" display, 1920x1200. Tilts to portrait. Has VGA and DVI input. This must have been close to $2000 in 2006. Copilot says $1,799 and it was considered a high end workstation display. I took it home and sure enough it works. Cool. They probably don't build them like this anymore. The CCFL backlight will take a few minutes to warm up in colder temps but we'll see how it goes.

Picked up another monitor from work. It is a Samsung S27E450 which is a 27" 1080p display. Technically worse than the 20 year old HP I got but it's far newer, has LED backlighting, is lighter, is bigger, and may work better in this application. I'll try it next time I feel like it.
