What is the power train of choice for drifting? You'll never guess.
Drifting - 4 vs. 8 - Hot Rod Unlimited
Re: Drifting - 4 vs. 8 - Hot Rod Unlimited
Before watching, some comments.
Ultimately, I think an N/A V8 is the way to go, because of the instant power delivery across the RPM range. Torque is pretty linear to your foot. With a turbo, you may be in the wrong gear and not have enough boost, but you may also end up increasing boost and get a swell of torque (and wheel speed) that you didn't really want. Seems pretty clear to me. Turbos may be crowd pleasers (in Japan) but I think for the mechanics of drifting, the V8 is what you want.

So according to the video, turbo small engines are good for making less power, on more boost, being harder to drive and maintain. Perfect.

I figured you would enjoy that.
