M/T: 2015 Charger Hellcat tested

I would definitely prefer this to the Challenger. And it is pretty quick running an 11.8 @ 124.3 mph. But check this out: 4,562 lb curb weight. Goddamn.

Impressive braking (104 ft from 60mph). Good stick (0.94G).

24.5s figure 8. That's worth comparing to some other vehicles for a frame of reference. Every one of these is quite a bit slower than the Hellcat.
2009 CTS-V: 25.1s
2014 Chevrolet SS: 24.8s (look at this achievement compared to the CTS-V! It's a cheaper and slower car, and is within 0.3s of the Charger)
2014 Cadillac CTS Vsport: 24.5s (it's not even the V)
2013 Camaro SS 1LE: 24.2s (enough said?)
2014 Camaro ZL1: 24.0s
2014 Camaro Z28: 23.6s

And I should point out, the Challenger is actually worse than the Charger, with a 24.7s time.

Now featured on an M/T Ignition episode:

You can tell it's not really for handling with 57% front weight bias. That's about as fancy as any body on frame V8 car. Like my Caprice.

But make no mistake, the Charger is the Hellcat to get (not the Challenger).

I'm only 30 seconds into the hot lap and he can't use the power. No commentary, just my observation.

I'm just going to come out with it: there's nothing performance oriented that GM makes that you can't use the power like this, and that's up and down the line. Just saying.

So why hammer it for that? It's obviously not a track car. Ok, but if a professional driver can't use all the power on a track, what chance does a regular person have to tap into it on the street (other than going straight and above 40mph)? You just won't have fun with it except in a straight line. Maybe that's ok. There's plenty of big stuff that is great fun and capable in corners, so that's no reason to give this a pass.

Ok this is sad. And predictable. It just looked slow as hell out there. Turned a 1.26:87. At 6:57 of the video, you see how that ranks. How mad I was that the Chevy SS wasn't in the list of cars! Here's the list:
Subaru WRX STI
MB CLA 45 AMG
BMW M235i
Jag XFR-S
Subaru WRX
Subaru WRX Special Edition
Ford Mustang EcoBoost

So I looked up the Streets of Willow lap time for the 2014 SS. You can imagine my glee. That car turned a 1.25:71. That's right. More than a second faster. I further submit the uselessness of those 707hp because the Charger's lap time was less than 1 second faster than a 300 SRT. The difference between the SS and the Charger Hellcat is actually more than the difference between the Hellcat and the 300 SRT (which already had more HP than the SS, and is a bit faster). Dropping the mic.
