I mean, I think 600 - 650 WHP would be more than adequate. If I don't need to build up the motor, I am not looking to spend the extra money.
I figure I will need a 5.3 with a 4L80 and a GN or 442 Rear. Then use the turbo kit I showed you (Down the road, not at the initial build). That should do it. Then upgrade the brakes and suspension, tires...

So the way I think about enthusiast cars is, you have the basic car that, for lack of a better phrase, strikes your fancy. Cars are never really done. In my opinion, the idea of having a budget and saying I will build this car to do these things for this price, and then I will have it. I don't think that's realistic. Maybe because I couldn't do it.
In my own experience, the best way to accomplish the goal of getting X for Y is like what I did by buying my CTS-V. With modding, you're always trying to make it better, maybe just because you can't afford to do everything at once anyway. Or maybe because you discover your (design) requirements as you go.
I could list a whole bunch of things that I always wanted to do with my Caprice but never really had the budget (and it wouldn't make sense now). Plus it's a progression. Suspension for example. I've done shorter springs, better bushings, better ball joints, better tie-rod adjusters, better rear control arms and Bilstein shocks. But I wanted to go to the next level and get anti-roll bars, custom valved Bilsteins and so on. A bigger brake package. The longer upper control arm that fixes some of the camber change issues with the stock suspension geometry.
Wanted to do things with my L05. And a T56. Then maybe an engine swap.
I don't think I would have gotten there if I just was like "ok, time to do everything." And the trade off was, while I still didn't get there, I have enjoyed the car (and kept it on the road, accumulating reliable miles).
A little bit now (and then some later if all goes well) is better than too much and a project that puts you over your head and budget.

Upgrade the brakes and tires before you get 600whp. Please. At least do some "performance" pads and rotors in the front if you aren't swapping spindles and going with larger diameter rotors.billgiacheri wrote:I mean, I think 600 - 650 WHP would be more than adequate. The kit with calipers is less than $200. I have a set on the front of my Fleetwood. Definitely has better pedal feel and fade resistance than stock stuff.

I just personally have a problem with, and don't really support, going fast with everything else secondary, when we are talking street driven cars. This isn't the movies or whatever that street outlaws TV/online show is.

This is a great read on turbo'd 4.8s and 5.3s:

By the way, this video and that Hot Rod Magazine article are where I got the idea to gap the rings bigger than stock as the only change to the internals for boost.
