MotorWeek - Retro Review: '87 GM Muscle Cars: SS
Re: MotorWeek - Retro Review: '87 GM Muscle Cars: SS
Interesting, this said the 0-60 was 9.4 seconds. That is higher than other reviews.
Impressive if not breathtaking Quarter Mile - 16.6 @81 mph.

Seems slow. I know of a few stock SS's that consistently ran in the mid-15's at ~85 back in the day. Maybe it was the cool NH air in the evenings at the track...billgiacheri wrote:Interesting, this said the 0-60 was 9.4 seconds. That is higher than other reviews.

Re: MotorWeek - Retro Review: '87 GM Muscle Cars: SS
There was a 95 SS review on one of the modified John Moss specials. It had a warmed over LT1 at a little over 300hp and a T56. They got 6.0 from that and said that was "2 seconds faster" than a stock SS. 8.0 from a stock SS? That's way off. I've never really seen anything other than 6.5 to 7.1 from the mags. The SS was also good for low 15s @ low 90s.billgiacheri wrote:Interesting, this said the 0-60 was 9.4 seconds. That is higher than other reviews.

What? In 95, they did this swap and made 2 seconds faster? In the quarter or to 60?There was a 95 SS review on one of the modified John Moss specials.
For 0-60:
That seems low. I recall seeing 7.7 to 60, which is still a big difference from 9.4. There must have been something really wrong with the test car.I've never really seen anything other than 6.5 to 7.1 from the mags
If the 2 second savings was on the 7.7 number, 0-60 in a nice, stylish, large mid-size at 5.7 seconds is pretty nice.

I thought we were talking about G-bodies?kevm14 wrote:There was a 95 SS review on one of the modified John Moss specials. It had a warmed over LT1 at a little over 300hp and a T56. Me too. I am confused. I thought he meant that they swapped a LT1 into a G-Body in 95 and got these numbers. Kevin, are you aware that there are cars besides B-Bodies?
Come on man. And, what is your post talking about.

The SS I am talking about is 94-96 Impala SS, which is the only SS. It supersedes all previous SS's.billgiacheri wrote:What? In 95, they did this swap and made 2 seconds faster? In the quarter or to 60?There was a 95 SS review on one of the modified John Moss specials.
