MS should be more like Google?

Isn't the idea of business to earn money? It sure doesn't look like Microsoft has a problem making money. The idea that Microsoft should be more like Google is only reasonable for those who really like Google. Google Glass hasn't made a nickle yet and might not ever because it is a waypoint to something else.

The narrow visioned always look at one company and then say it needs to be something else.Change for change's sake is stupid.

Some look at the smartphone market and say Microsoft can't compete but you never read that the others can't compete in areas where Microsoft excels. Take xBox for example. What does Google have to compete there? Shouldn't Google then be more like Microsoft? Ah, those word would turn to fire if you wrote them

Google is not everything to everyone, far from it. The idea that a single company should fill the needs of all people in every category is naive and shows a lack of critical thinking. If you don't like the products Microsoft sells then by all means by from those companies than make what you like. There are always those who want Volkswagon to make a car like a Ferrari. It doesn't work that way.

There is no room for two Googles. Were Microsoft to become like Google then what you end up with is losing what Microsoft does offer and the one thing it offers than no other company does is stability. Can you name one Google product other than its search engine that you can comfortably say will be around in 15 years? I think not. Google has to change its products like people change underwear in order to survive. Google is trying hard to move Chome to Android and Android to Chrome so that it has something to offer the market that can maintain some longevity.

Why did so many people and businesses buy Windows? They knew it would be there next year and not simply abandoned with the "app" simply ceasing to work one day or disappearing from your device after you went to sleep. While Microsoft has in the past abandoned some products, what people depended upon has remained in place and supported though all the years. You never ever wondered if Windows would be around. Can you honestly say that for any other tech product, especially Google?

For all the talk about Google Glass, how long do you think they will be around in present form? Will there be an upgrade path? Are you kidding? The products made by Google and Apple as well are sold with obsolescence built in. Then, where is the return in value for money spent when you are constantly jumping from one product to the next because some new insignificant feature required you get new hardware or the product you have no longer functions?

Sorry but you are off the cliff with this story. While Microsoft has some problems, making money isn't one of them and in case you forgot, that is what business is all about.

What a bunch of non-sense. Google is not the template for Success. MS is doing just fine. This is a company with a diverse line of businesses well positioned to collect recurring income from service subscribers. Google is completely dependent on selling ads. They are desperately behind in social networking and they don't make a penny out of Android.
Just remember. Google bought Motorola for $12.5B to patent-troll the shit out of Apple. Not because they wanted to make cool phones. The patent thing was a complete failure, so they're done with that. Doesn't sound like the "technology" company we think we know.
