Guess what else is apparently in that list: a 1990 Nissan 300ZX. That's a little embarrassing because that car had a 222hp VG30DE and a $27k base price. Pretty sure that these were all 0-60 between 7 and 8 seconds.
There were definitely stories of people beating these bigger cars with a couple simple mods with both the Cavalier and the Beretta. I am positive that the bigger cars would eventually overtake, but a lot of the road stuff wasn't that long.
