A couple more points on this.

I see his routine (and seemingly most stuff like this) as political editorial opinion loosely disguised as comedy. I have a problem with that regardless of how many coastal Americans might agree.

Speaking of coastal Americans, that's kind of my problem with this stuff in the first place. The media is run out of the coasts. Entertainment is run out of the coasts. Eventually people just think "everyone seems to agree with this, so I guess I will, too."

Speaking of problems I have with things, the SJWs have basically made jokes going in the other direction politically incorrect, insensitive or possibly worse. I don't think that's cool.

I think comedy is generally more liberal as conservativism is seen as old, dated and constricted. The thing is that comedians generally are liberal with social issues, which I usually also side with except a few that I really don't care to go into. So most of the conservative "bashing" is based on what some would consider "outdated" conservative views. It is unfortunate that there can't be a party that is socially liberal, but financially conservative. I mean financially conservative as not spending more than we have, not giving all benefits to the rich. Maybe I am describing libertarians...

It is unfortunate that everything is so polarized that joking is seen as going to far and being politically vicious. That is why I like Dave Chappelle and South Park. Nobody is safe.

I agree conservatism is viewed that way and I mostly buy your explanation as I've held a similar belief. However, I was just watching a Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with Lewis Black and they actually had a mini-rant about the new age PC movement ruining comedy. Maybe that's why the topics are what they are. Defending Trump, Trump policy or a Trump supporter would be (falsely made equivalent to) backing racist bigot homophobes.

Well, look at shows like All in the Family or Married With Children, those shows are classic and great comedy shows, but you think they even come close to making it on the air today? Maybe MWC does but no way does All in the Family with Archie Bunker saying the things he said.

But overall, with the way our culture has been going with everything needing to be PC or sensitive to everyone, it does make it harder for a joke to not spin out of control and/or then go viral with the comedian being calling a racist, sexist, homophobic, or anti-(insert any group name). At what point can we just say "dude, calm down, it was a joke, if you don't find it funny, then don't laugh and move on or don't go to this person's show anymore".

The SJW approach is to get the person fired or worse.
