Even cheaper option but has a $100 core. I don't think they would take the core once I'm done with it.

But $355+$8 shipping in theory, if I had a good core. Otherwise another $100.

Ground open with Dremel. Soldered every push pin I could find except the 4 motor drive pins. The motor did work anyway.

Used liquid flux which did seem to help.

Cleaned with alcohol and blew off with air.

Photos are from various stages.

Used black RTV to glue the cover on.

I did the best I could so hopefully this works. If not she can buy a module and I'll install it.

I installed the module on the vehicle. The good news is I did not brick it and it communicates the same as it did before. The bad news is I did not fix it and code 5001 immediately came back at 11 mph. So it needs a replacement module. Trying to play circuit board technician is absolutely not worth my time.

She's going to trade in the car. She sent over the info and it looked like the trade value was $2500. It's tempting to buy it and maybe flip it but maybe I don't care enough. The car is in excellent shape inside and out.

Probably would have been a good first car for Ian but he's 3 years away.
