388 WHP should move the E39 around nicely.

CTS wagon:
http://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/5722924820.html Hard to tell what equipment this has based on very limited info in ad. Not a bad price for the mileage and year though.

Car is completely stock with the exception of window tint professionally done. Supercharger was replaced at 105K with a warranty up to 120k or 2019.
I wonder if it failed at 105k or just made enough noise that GM replaced it, which he then figured would be a reasonable time to sell anyway. Just a guess. One owner is cool, too.
That one offers some pretty high value for $27k. Once again, I say go drive it. Tell him your situation and ask for an extended test drive. Don't show up in the Rondo. Or the Prius.

It might be FE3 based on the wheels. Not a bad price for only $7k more for a CTS-V (with twice the miles).

Or you can look at it as less than half the cost of a comparable V wagon

The wagon does have some utility aspects that I like and seems to be a bit more daily driver friendly than a car that will get mid-teens on premium and chew through tires almost as fast as my Elise.

Yeah, pretty much. This is definitely the daily driver CTS for someone who still cares about performance.

I had a funny conversation with a guy at work last week. I was driving through the parking lot in my CTS-V to go to lunch and he stopped me to talk. Turns out a friend of the family just bought "one of these.". We narrowed in on it being a 2012-ish CTS-V, which I explained was the gen after mine and very capable. He began to describe how fancy the interior was. Then he said he thought it had more like 400 hp not 556. My eyes grew big - I said....that couldn't have been a 2014 CTS Vsport, could it?? He said, actually, yeah, that is it. I explained how well rounded that car is from a performance standpoint. Anyway, that was kind of cool.

If someone is listing the interior as a high point, it's probably not a first or second gen CTS

That is a cool story though.
