Why drive the police version when you can get a real SHO for $14k? Miles are a bit higher, but this really isn't a bad car for the money. I don't expect to see a $14k SS with under 100k for a very long time, possibly ever.

Ugh.

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/201 ... -road-test

4346 lbs
our as-tested fuel economy of 16 mpg. Even at a steady 80 mph, our Taurus had trouble topping 20 mpg
Throughout the day at GingerMan, we repeatedly hear “Do a burnout!” and “Light ’em up!” yelled at us
It can't...
0.84 g, and the SHO is willing to put up with track-inspired shenanigans until the smallish brakes start pouring out enough white smoke for Catholics to take notice
13.7 @ 103

This is hardly a performance sedan. Lame. Rather look at an LX car. It's not like they aren't cheap too.

I guess for my $14-15k, I'd probably rather have this even though it's slower than the SHO. http://columbia.craigslist.org/cto/5906132651.html

If I am forced to reduce my budget, the ATS might make sense.

I am also eyeing ATS-V values. Still too early to tell how these will depreciate, and I am not expecting it to be favorable for me. I think actually this car would be my favorite to drive out of all the options due to the smaller size, excellent chassis and best 1/4 mile trap speed. Aside from the price, the biggest downside is the small back seat.

If the V2 was a serious contender on my list, I would give this some consideration.

I don't think I have ever been to Houston, except to the airport.

I may have to add the Lexus IS-F to this list, particularly if my opportunity to buy comes sooner rather than later.

Pros: good reliability, nice sound, 8-speed auto even though the first year was 2008, ride/handling balance is supposed to be good, has the clock font Kevin loves, traps 114, resale value in the long term is probably going to be good, would give me another car with a jointly developed Toyota/Yamaha engine.

Cons: Interior feels a bit dated and is also a bit smaller than I would like, probably less capable on a racetrack than either the VSport or SS, exterior styling feels a bit bland and dated.
