Maybe it does. Equivalent performance, more utility, more reliability, more moddability, but you don't get a fancy Italian badge (Cadillac vs Maserati is...not the same thing) or other exotic componentry. I guess it's a fair trade. And it tells me the badge is actually inflating the car's inherent value. Which is pretty sad.

Even with the warranty, he figures this car costs around $6500 per 20k miles. Not including fuel, insurance, or actual repairs. Yikes.

He lost $10k on it which is bad enough but when you add EVERYTHING up the total cost was actually $23k. Which is a good reminder to add everything up when comparing costs of things.
