I am talking about the old one. No tuner wants Displacement on Demand.

Then they can't offer what you are asking. I mean that is an idea, to offer an old engine, if it even meets current emissions standards (it probably doesn't and they have never, not once, offered a 5.3L in a car). Worse, it would be very unfavorable to their CAFE numbers. Are you starting to understand how cheap cars COULD be if it wasn't for regulations? Even if you like most of the regs, there is still a bill for them. And the government is making you pay that bill.

I can say that an LTG 2.0T crate engine is $7,800.

I do not see a crate 5.3 but a crate LT1 is $9,726.78. I see where you might go with this (take base Camaro, add $2,000, bam) but that is missing a lot of things. Anyway, if that were true, the Camaro SS would be like $28,000. It's not true. There are a LOT of other things that you have to add and it has everything to do with handling the power. By the time you add stickier tires, bigger wheels, better suspension, bigger brakes, stronger rear suspension and diff, driveshaft and transmission, and whatever else I missed, you start to eat away at the delta in a major way. I can somewhat prove this because a base 2.0T Camaro is 3,410 lbs. The V6 is 3,469 lbs. The SS is 3,760 lbs. I can tell you that extra 350 lbs goes a long way to show the extra material in the SS so it can handle the V8 torque. Now with that 5.3L, wouldn't you want the upgraded LT1 running gear anyway since everyone is supposedly going to have Big Planz (inside joke from Bob) for their base V8 Camaro? I bet we're looking at like $35k by the time they made it and certified a 5.3 for car use. Which is why it doesn't exist.
