Estimated Delivery:
Wednesday, September 27, 2017
By End of Day
Damn. What do we need US distributors for other than for marking up the price?? So much for the slow boat from China. Now we have the fast airplane.

I did get a text that signature is required. Fortunately that will probably work out fine given my situation. What if no one is home? Does it go straight back to China?

Damn!
Customs status updated CINCINNATI HUB, OH - USA 11:23 AM
Look at this go! If I am to understand, this shit was like one day air from China to OH, and then another overnight flight from OH to me...or perhaps some kind of really long ground delivery but I doubt it.

That's crazy fast. Just the flying time from HKG to Cincinnati has to be like 15 or 16 hours.

Unboxing.

Taped for waterproofness? Or general structural integrity?

Hilarious invoice which I assume is basically for customs. It does clearly state made in China. But it also states $55 value. It also says Shenzen on it.

Inside the box was this case.

This thing is so much bigger than I thought. Then I realized that screen (while monochrome) was pretty big for this kind of thing in the 90s. And really, the tool is pretty sophisticated for the era.

Took me a while to connect all the things and the CANDi module. And insert the PCMCIA card. Eventually I figured it out. With the CANDi module there is enough cable to get the scan tool to the trunk area which is something.

2013!

Please ignore my stupid phone's faulty image stabilizer. Was like this since I bought it unfortunately. This is a plot of tire pressure from two sensors I selected over time, as live data. Just a totally random example of its awesomeness. I didn't yet know how to switch units so forgive the kPa.

I screwed around with a few other things too. I went into cylinder balance. I could shut off individual injectors and watch the RPM.

Another mode let me change the engine RPM.

Yet another mode let me manually command the variable cam phasers to whatever I wanted (advanced or retarded).

It goes on and on.

Did you install the stickers yet?

Actually yes. Except for the VCI sticker - not sure where it goes. Maybe on the PCMCIA card? Can't figure out where else it would go.

And I haven't installed the two "VOID if removed" stickers because...well...why?

The stickers were actually very high quality. They weren't just some thin crap with an image printed on them. One was a 3M. They take their cloning seriously.

I checked their website. Price is down to $285.00. Sigh.
