Fleetwood Exhaust Failure

Manifolds to tailpipes, this can be quite exhausting

I could buy the dynomax intermediate pipes separately (2.5") then use whatever mufflers and with my factory tailpipes or the Pypes tailpipes. Stand by for part numbers and prices.

Why can't you use the Pypes mufflers again?

Those could be the mufflers I want to use. I already own them, so there's that.

Dynomax intermediate pipes (Summit):
LH - 45687 - $37.97
RH - 45688 - $47.97
Hanger - 35339 - $11.97

The LH pipe and the hanger wouldn't ship until 10/6. The RH pipe is in stock.

AutoZone can't get the LH pipe anymore. I should see if Napa can get any of this.

Amazon shows 1-2 months on the LH pipe while the RH pipe is "out of stock".

Jegs shows a ship date of February 2018 for the LH pipe. The RH pipe would ship next week.

I guess I'll see what Napa can get. If there really are no other options, I guess I'll buy the terrible stock system again, at least that is readily available.

Still need to check with Napa on the Dynomax stuff. If I want Walker replacement crap, I can pay an extra $30 and buy it from Napa vs. the RockAuto cost with shipping. That might almost be worth doing to not have to deal with it being shipped to the house and left outside while I'm at work.

Not sure if you pulled this up before or not. It is the Dynomax 17375 catback system.

Rockauto carries the 45688 but not the 45687. Their price for the 45688 is $34.79. I would order both from Summit given the situation. I wouldn't bother with the factory replacement stuff. If you have to do exhaust at least stick to a plan that maximizes performance for the money/trouble.

I miss those 304 stainless tips. I used to polish them from time to time. Never understood the combination of 304 stainless muffler (which would take a polish) mated with aluminized piping. Give me 409 stainless everything, like factory, and if I want to splurge I'll get 304 tips...whatever.

I was looking at the diagram from the Dynomax site to get the PN#s. I will check with Napa tomorrow and see what the delivery schedule is. Summit seems like the best bet otherwise if I can get over waiting for another 2.5 weeks.

So I guess the question becomes: keep the stock tailpipes, or use the Pypes tailpipes?

I like the idea of 2.5" all the way, but am hesitant on the interior resonance given my experience with the Caprice. Perhaps that changes with the straight dual exhaust vs. the X-pipe setup in the Pypes system.

I almost want to match up the stock Fleetwood intermediate pipe to one off a B-body first to make sure I'll just be able to extend the B-car pipe to fit the D-car.

Order the Dynomax tailpipes then. Resonators with 304 stainless tips.

Summit has 1 of the two tips listed as ship date 10/6. They have the other one and the two over-axle pipes.

Total for all Dynomax pipes (reusing Pypes mufflers) with $54 shipping: $404.79. Tomorrow I'll compare with Napa availability. Their listed online prices for the same things is $380.06 (minus the hanger). That seems like the better deal and I don't have to worry about the pipes laying outside.

Not sure if this helps, but when I ordered exhaust stuff from RockAuto is was in a box. Not sure if that helps with the concern of it getting shipped to your house.

The muffler may have been out, but the resonator etc. was in a box.
