That's what you get for making fun of the STS. But while I have a lot of collective years and miles with no electronic throttle issues, you do have higher mileage than any of my Cadillacs. So there's that.

The verdict? No doubt in my mind now. It's German.

And it's a good thing it passed inspection on Saturday!

Well, the cam code turned out to be a bad intake cam variable valve timing solenoid. 22 dollar part, installed in 20 minutes.

The nice part is that the car now pulls smoothly through to redline. It winds out pretty satisfyingly, in my opinion.. It's only 138 hp, but it's also only 2900lbs.

Oil light came on during the drive to New London.. again. I finally looked it up and it's oil level, not pressure. That's a relief!

I think it's the high rpms required for high speed driving. It's nearly at 4k when cruising at 80mph. With the engine spinning that fast, the oil pump is spinning really fast too, and the return may be insuffucient. An oil top off may be enough to stop it from getting low enough to trigger the light.

I may have a bottle still. Good idea there. After the oil change this weekend, it hasn't happened again... yet
