Another comparison.

2017 Camaro SS 1LE
455 hp
3,743 lbs
$44,400 "base"
2:54.8 in the 2016 LL

2018 Mustang GT PP2
460 hp
3,843 lbs
$44,685 "base"
2:53.8 in the 2018 LL

I am surprised but in many ways Ford has managed to make the GT reach performance and price parity with an SS 1LE. Actually a full second faster which I guess is statistically relevant.

This is the only flaw that C&D pointed out:
But with no differential cooler, the rear axle overheated every time we took the Mustang out, often in as few as three hot laps, and even with easy laps staggered between them.
Over at Best Driver's Car, there were more comments about the Mustang.

Need to take a look at the tires.

The Camaro SS 1LE ran on the following:
Tires: Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3
F: 285/30ZR-20 (95Y), R: 305/30ZR-20 (99Y)
The Mustang GT PP2 ran on the following:
Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2, 305/30ZR-19 (98Y)
Wow, 305 in the front like the old Z/28.

So the Pilot SC2s are in the "Streetable Track & Competition" category.

Which is sort of half a step off R compound. These are so track focused that they aren't even supposed to be used in any kind of water. 180 treadwear.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 is classified as "Extreme Performance Summer" which is one notch down. 220 treadwear. But the point is I think there is a little more siping for wet traction, and a little more treadwear giving less stick. I feel comfortable saying the Mustang was on better tires. It would probably be something like if they put SC2s on the Camaro it would beat the Mustang 70% of the time, but not all of the time or something.
