They spend a lot of R&D on exhausts. The idea that the factory resonator was "just a tube" ignores resonant tuning principles. They are tuning to diminish certain objectionable frequencies and/or harmonics and even accentuate other, "pleasant" ones. We are far from the days of "this exhaust is quieter" or "this exhaust is louder."

He messaged back - no interest in meetup somewhere inbetween which is expected. Immediately dropped the price to $200 since I'm so far away.
I think I fixed the contact point since it was at the exhaust tip and I was able to slide the valve outboard along the pipe and reclamp it.
$200 is tempting for what might be awesome sounding exhaust, just wish it was closer.

Given that the car and now exhaust is in NJ I think the answer is you are unlikely to find a take off cat back much closer.
