You know I should find a dealer with an SS and drive my CTS-V there to test drive it. And for that matter, I should find a CTS-V2 to test drive. I haven't test driven many cars in my life at dealers. And there's no reason why not.

Life with an SS: http://www.ssforums.com/forum/2014-chev ... eview.html

Some highlights:
Modern infotainment GPS navigation integration is still improving. Take a look at this.

Directions in THREE places if you want it. Pretty nice. Also you'll see the HUD G-meter.

Some funnies here: http://www.ssforums.com/forum/2014-chev ... eview.html

Some comments on the sleeper aspect:
I found it interesting that the one thing they didn't like about the SS is the main thing I do LIKE about it. That being the "sleeper aspect" of the car. Partly why we ordered white instead of black as has been our choice in the past. Don't want the attention drawn to the car like the guys in the video. I'll be perfectly happy knowing what the car is and can do myself, I'm sure much like several other owners on this forum.

If someone wants that instant recognition they should go get the SRT or other brands as mentioned in the video.
I agree. One of the things I love most about this car is the fact that it's a sleeper. I don't want something flashy that every cop on the planet is going to be looking at.
I agree, too. I want a car that I enjoy driving. I'm not overly concerned with what other people think
I agree, I already have two of those and am looking forward to being able to go out on the down low and without be challenged at every light I stop at.
Maybe the best one:
I don't want a car that advertises to the world that I am a douchebag, whether I really am or not.

I want to be a douchebag and not have anyone know the wiser based on the appearance of my car.
We need to look at this from their point of view. Imagine you are a twenty something or even in your early 30s (I wish I was!). Now imagine you were designing the perfect large high performance sedan.

1)LS3 drive train - Check
2)Killer handling - Check
3)Good interior with every bell and whistle - Check
4)Great brakes - Check
5) Reasonable price (for what you are getting) - Check
6)Exterior should scream, "look at me, this is a high performance car!", or maybe "look at me, this is the same car that Satan drives on Saturday nights!". It will need 6 air scoops of which at least 2 must be shakers...ect.
I can't have that stuff? Then I don't like this car!
I enjoyed this anecdote:
This is the car that my wife, the mother of my children (G-d help me) drives 5 days a week (I get it on the week ends).

The very first time she drove one of my cars was about 24 years ago. It was a full up SAAB 900 turbo sedan. The fastest one they made back then.(The stories I could tell about that car)

Anyway my wife was borrowed the car(we were not married yet) to run up to the corner store. Over 1 hour later she comes back with a big smile on her face. She then proudly tells me she has been racing a Corvette (pre 1982) all over town. Not just once you understand, but literally all over town!

The moral of this story is that I don't need "Lead Foot Lisa" to be challenged by children in their ricers everyday... She needs no help with temptation!
And you'll know why I'm pasting this one....
The thing you left out though is 20 somethings have grown up hearing nothing but BS about how bad American made cars are bla bla bla etc.... So they see the Chevy badge and think it wont be "cool" enough to drive. Meanwhile its twice the car they probably ended up buying because it has a "cool" badge on it. Im looking at YOU Infinity G37.
Go on...

Discussing the LX SRT cars vs the SS...
I'm not a straight line guy. I just care about having the confidence to throw a car into a turn. So while I've contemplated adding a supercharger to my car I struggle with the weight balance. I'm coming from a different place than the average enthusiast.
I run the Tail of the Dragon a couple of times a year. The GTO weighs 3750 lbs the SS 3900. I could see myself running it in the SS. I couldn't see taking a 4500 lb 300 (with supercharger) up there and having as much fun.
My last run up there was in October. It was my first run with the 6 piston CtS-V front and 4 piston CTs-V calipers installed. I have 14" rotors f and 13.7" Z06 r rotors. I could clearly tell the heavier rotors dulled acceleration as soon as I put them on.
A 4380 lb 300 interests me not at all.
On another note. We had a lifter fail on the Dragon, which chewed the cam up in the completely stock ls2 with only 41,000 miles on it. I put an additional 600 miles on it and got home fine. Car has been at a friends house for almost 4 months. Putting in a baby cam 212/217 114 LSA .585 lift.
Man, only 41k. He should have run GC 0W-30.

Gotta love the 3-36 powertrain warranty.

I think they went to a 5/100 starting in 2007.

I guess warranty or not, a failed lifter is a perfect excuse to install a bigger cam.

Well not really. But I know where you're going with that. You still have to remove the WP, opti, crank snout and timing cover (which may involve oil pan operations). It's quite a bit more involved, since pulling the intake and valve covers isn't that much work.

Top speed run on closed section of tollway in Texas with Hennessy HPE600 upgrade. Limited to top of 5th for some reason, 163mph (curiously, about the same top speed of my CTS-V in 5th).

You have to love GM. This is a 2014 car and you can already buy this. Granted it's $600 but it adds 27hp and 29lb-ft at the rear wheels. 368 rwhp.

Stock, there is at least 300 rear wheel lb-ft of torque from 2400-5900 rpm.
After this calibration, that widens to 1900-6300 rpm.
