I love the clear plastic fuel line. Why is it like that, coming out of the water pump, you ask? Because the factory Quadrajet had a steel line that connected the mechanical pump and the carb inlet at the front of the carb which runs up the front of the motor next to/behind the water pump. The Edelbrock carb's fuel inlet is at the rear, on the passenger side. The solution? Bend up a new steel line accounting for the new carb inlet location? No way, too much work. Just run a rubber line from the end of the factory steel line (and maybe cut it back some) to the new carb inlet! Be especially careful to make the rubber line longer than it needs to be to make sure it can trap extra air in it. Fixed forever!

I like that it's long enough to get caught on the alternator.

So this is still true. And I am bringing this thread back.

I propose we do something semi-legitimate surrounding a 300k mile celebration on my Caprice. Frank has a UAV w/ camera capability. He has a dSLR. I have a dSLR. We'd need more equipment (at the very least, better audio than on-camera audio). And we'd need someone who knows how to edit video to make semi-boring single takes into something entertaining (with dub-overs).

We'd also need to storyboard this (i.e. have a point to the 5-10 minute episode). It would be fun to actually put my Caprice through some "test," kind of like how they get the white cards on Top Gear. The show would start out talking about that most people consider 300k to be a lot of miles and the car on its last leg. So we propose a series of challenges to test if the car is still capable. Drag racing, slalom, donuts, uhh...braking. I dunno, more fun than instrumented. Test how it does with the ladies....lol. You could have fun with that.

I am not willing to commit killing my Caprice for entertainment though I understand that would garner more views.

When we get the filming license, we can pit it against the 3 if we can find somewhere long enough.

Certainly we could do that...our cars are slow enough that going off a light would be fine as well. My Caprice has the potential to make around 220-225 hp but it's had some kind of weird (valvetrain?) issue for a long time now and it just falls on its face most of the time above ~4,000 rpm. Add the decrease in torque from the Pypes X-pipe, not to mention 300k, and it's less than optimal. Your car is probably putting out 100% of its design power.

Decrease in torque? From less back pressure, whatever that is?

No, from poor scavenging. The back pressure thing on exhaust is a misnomer.
