So out of place at a Toyota dealership.

What are they going to say about it?

"All the salesmen shit themselves when it started."
"Hi, I'd like to trade my 2012 Prius straight up for that Malibu you took in on a trade"

"Sure, sounds good to us. When can you come in?"

This car has been for sale forever: https://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/d/ ... 48347.html

Finally, a price reduction to $29k. Maybe I should drop them one of those "if you ever get serious..." emails.

Oh wow, I remember that one. New engine. That car needs to be more like $25k I think. I mean that is "below market" but that's the price where you might make a move I think.

Yeah, I feel like the new engine is a little bit of a red flag, although if it has been properly maintained since it was replaced, it's really not an issue.

I like the black / Kona combo. Black is a lousy color for a daily driver because it's difficult to keep clean. Also, in the south it's hot. It does look good when clean though.

Generally speaking, I like to buy below market. I have time on my side so I will just wait until I can get something below market. I am not sure how motivated this seller is given that the car has been on the market for a long time. Obviously, if you haven't found a buyer in 6+ months or whatever, your price is too high.

I would likely require a good explanation on the new engine thing. There may be one.

This is interesting. https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/cto/d/ ... 31440.html

If it was local, I might take a look. Raises a lot of red flags and you have to not care about resale, but I think the price is reflective of that. It would need some Vsport wheels and a seat belt and floor mat I guess. I am curious about how trouble-free it would be being a flood car.

I don't think it really got wet
Unfortunately even at $15k, I wouldn't touch it. You just don't know what happened. If you wanted to do a forensic analysis and take apart half the car to attempt to find where the water line was, MAYBE. But barring that, no way.

It is true that vehicles are declared flood/salvage even if they don't get that wet. It's just that you have no real way to verify that.
