Carfax: https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p ... 88E0196690

Pros:

- All Southern (GA) car
- Sold as a CPO car in April 2015 with 11k miles on it. Not sure if there's anything left of the CPO warranty at this point.
- Although the ad said it was black, the Carfax says Gray. Phanton Gray Metallic is actually one of my top choices.
- Seems to have been driven a lot (17k/yr) by the second owner (lots of highway?)

Cons:
- No oil changes noted before 25k. I really hope this was done. Also, no oil changes between 1/2017 @ 45k and 11/2017 @ 59k. I guess it is possible that the DIC would allow it to go 14k on an oil change if it was all highway.
- The accident in 8/2017

Just noticed one big problem - this isn't a Vsport, according to Carfax. Nevermind, I guess.

It is a Vsport.

Carfax models won't always show up with trim levels. The car is a CTS still.

8th VIN digit is an 8 which corresponds to the LF3.

That's good to know. I have seen a lot of Carfax reports that show Vsport in the vehicle information section. I wonder why it is inconsistent.

Yes, I pretty much only look at 2014s since there were almost no Vsports made after that year.

Is there any price for an SS that would make you buy it over a Vsport?

Said more broadly, is there anything that could happen that would make you buy an SS over a Vsport?

This is surprising. The other one did not have any listed when I clicked the button. Goes to show...click the button.

Manufacturer Recall NumberA162070110
NHTSA Recall Number17V382
Recall StatusRecall Incomplete
Summary
General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2014-2016 model year Chevrolet Caprice and SS vehicles. These vehicles may experience loss of electric power steering (“EPS”) assistance while driving or idling as a result of fretting corrosion on the connector between the EPS module and the torque sensor. If power steering assist is lost, manual steering functionality is retained but would require an increased steering effort, particularly at lower speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
Safety Risk
If power steering assist is lost, manual steering functionality is retained but would require an increased steering effort, particularly at lower speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the steering gear assembly to determine whether the part has gold-plated terminals. If it does not, dealers will replace it with a new assembly fitted with gold-plated terminals.
Funny thing is this is pretty much the #1 issue that concerns me about this platform. I think some folks have been skeptical that the terminal is the only issue. Could do some research. But it's nice to see it as a recall. I don't think I knew it went to recall level. It impacts the PPV, too.
