Since I did order the angle indicator, do you know what the final camber is supposed to be? I just matched the passenger side for now with a level, so at least it isn't as wacky, but it still seemed like a significant amount of camber.

Also on the NVH front. I do think at some point in the relative near future I should buy and install the other two motor mounts since I feel like there's probably still more-than-intended NVH in the cabin. But that's probably a 5k or 10k from now problem for me, not right now.

I can probably dig that up but my approach was to get a "before" spec on the rack and make the needed camber adjustment myself so I knew how far off it was.

You want the 156 AMG section. Almost identical in spec to my E63. 1d 45' or 1.75 degrees of negative camber in the front. If you are really trying to measure actual camber, you need to be on a super flat surface. YMMV.

Also included front toe, and rear camber + toe.

They also have level specs but like with my S550, the spec is actually a degree of inclination of some specific section of a lower control arm or axle. Not something you can use a tape measure to check. Let me know if you still want that I guess.

I now get why I was confused on the computer interaction - from rereading 4 or 5 times, I believe that is "only" required if I want/need to recalibrate the level sensor. If I hit the same fluid level, then all is OK and I'd be all set without needing to recalibrate the sensor. I think that's why it's not required in the "standard" fluid/filter change sequence.

I think I'm going to go for the fluid change tonight. I did check the fluid level when I first got the dipstick in, warm, idling in park. I got 4.5 on the scale, which corresponded well with the temp being between 40C and 70C. I also don't understand why they don't encourage linear interpolation, since that would make you way less temp crazy.

All done. Seems to drive fine. I filled just to level 4 idling at 111 degrees F which is slightly hotter than the 40degC spec. Looks like it’s like 5+ at like 150F, but I met the low end level requirement.

Overall it was really the same procedure as any other automatic.

Took about 5.8 liters or so instead of the 5.3 listed somewhere.

I also did the plugs and managed to barely lean on and crack a coolant fitting at the passenger edge of the valve cover. Both sides broke so I now have 5/16 fuel line slid over the small diameter nylon or whatever from the overflow tank and a 5/16-5/16” hose barb into the rubber that was on the engine side. No leaks so far, seems to hold pressure. I guess I should try to order all of the mating stuff at some point if I’m into the cooling system again.

Oh yeah - also changed the rear differential fluid. Someone stripped the fill plug and had just rtv’d it in. I put it back like that for now, but I need to find a fine thread 10mm helicoil kit.

I did a very brief cruise through the iCarsoft menus, but only saw transmission adaptation, not transmission fluid life reset. Any way to get through to fix that code? Was it measuring some fluid response or parameter and unhappy and will fix itself, or was it just time/mileage?

I haven't yet reset the oil life minder - maybe that will also reset transmission fluid life?
