I think this is too rough. Look at the paint peeling from the trim. Almost looks like a bad repaint that didn't last.

I don't quite trust the history of this car. And one thing that I've been consistent about: I don't buy cars with bad paint. Everything I've bought was at least a 20 foot car.

I don't mind performing TLC - I actually enjoy that phase of the used car experience. But if I can't lightly compound the paint to fix the clearcoat, that is not what I want typically. Like I said, I don't know that I want a real SS bad enough to overlook everything else that it may need. Only I can answer that.

If B-body supply is at the point where I have to jump on the first rust-free one I see (again, locally that is going to be incredibly rare so I understand that), then maybe I don't want another one. I don't even know what I want to do with it! I wish I could find time to look at this one. It would help answer these questions.

We're not sure what you want either...

I think it has been pretty obvious that I don't know what I want. I'm not claiming I have rock solid requirements or something.

It's almost like the longer I keep something, the harder it is to replace. I wish it wasn't rusty - I'd just keep it and eventually overhaul the powertrain. Which was the entire point of this thread 81 pages ago. Now that I don't think that is really feasible/practical, I just don't know what I want to do next.

These are going to be like the Monte Carlo SS. The longer you wait, the worse condition and more expensive they get.

I saw an old lady driving an E38 740 or 750 with M-Parallel wheels. Mmm, I still like that.

Real purple 1995 Impala ss 180k miles...comes with 96 console and shifter..has exhaust otherwise its stock...needs tires, windshields cracked and could use a few odds and ends but runs and drives...interiors not shredded carpets ripped but seats aren't ...car was brought up from SC so it's rust free unlike every other one in New England $2000firm text
So 96 console installed. But he left the 95 cluster. Some kind of exhaust (mine is compatible anyway). Needs tires. I have tires. Windshield crack, that is another, what, $350? Odds and ends? Who the hell knows what's broken.
Seats are not shredded, but carpet is ripped? Ugh.
Back down to $1900...?

Didn't take too long to find a proper basket case.

http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/5809888215.html
2001 BMW 750il. Clean title in my name. 5.4l v12. Fully loaded, most everything works. AC blows cold. Navigation doesn't work.

I recently did a bunch of work to it. New tires, transmission fluid change (twice), new lower control arm in the front, oil change, fuel filter change, had the ABS ecu rebuilt, new starting battery (there are two batteries in this thing), and more that I'm sure I forgot.

Body isn't in great shape but looks good from 20 feet. Looks like there was some work done on the driver's side rear quarter. Rear bumper cracked, hood is a little crinkled, dent on trunk lid. One fog light doesn't work, one headlight's adjuster is broken so the headlight is low. Looks like someone did a little off-roading on the driver's side underneath the car.

Check engine light is on for the catalytic converter heater. I believe you need a new control module for that. Glove box doesn't open, hood release is broken (cable is still there). Transmission sometimes comes up with an error for the brake switch. Transmission sometimes shifts funny and leaks a bit from the front seal (torque converter seal I believe). Shifting might be from low fluid or I've read about the valve body needing to be rebuilt. Hasn't gotten worse, and I've been driving it around. Traction control doesn't work, but the module is under warranty (just needs to get sent back to the company).

Regardless I'm not messing with it any more because I just don't have time to mess with it. It does drive and run nicely, just sometimes shifts a little weird. I think the valve covers are leaking a little bit. Comes with the cable to plug into the computer.

$2000/obo or trade for another car/truck or motorcycle.

That is everything you could want in a muscle truck. Or, at least, a Ranger upgrade.
